The Scare!

It was an average Sunday in Joe and Cynthia's life...

We had gone to church, ate, napped, talked, and well... My visiting teachers came to see me, and I was making calls to my visiting teaching partner, etc. When Joey got back from home teaching with his companion, I was jotting some things down in my journal. The lasagna was in the oven and it was smelling great! Joey went in the other room for a minute and came back and was talking to me. Joey was about one foot from being under the light, when....da-da-da!!! The thick glass light cover fell off the ceiling and shattered to peices!!! We had no idea that it was loose or anything. There was no warning to us that this was going to happen!! If Joey had been standing under it, he would have been in the hospital with serious head injuries! So, now we've been a little nervous that the other two lights are going to come crashing down! We are not sure how it got loose enought to fall and break, but we think it might have something to do with the fact that we are one the bottom floor of 3 floors.... but we don't know. Glass was found all over the room even over where I was sitting! So, we picked up all the big peices and anything visible. The thick glass was scorchin' hot!!! After that, Joey went to lay down because he had a headache and I vacuumed every little inch of the living room carpet. So, that was a pretty huge scare, and we know that Joey was kept from the hospital because the Lord was watching over him. We know that the Lord was keeping both of us safe from what could have been awful injury. We are so grateful to have the gospel in our lives!!!

Our plan is to go to the maintanence list and write what happened and probably add on there that we want our other lights checked to make sure that they aren't loose. haha. Our bathroom faucet has also been kinda loose so I will probably add that on there too! So, here are some pictures: The first one is how the light looks with the cover on it, the second one is after the cover fell, and the third one is of the broken glass. Oh!!!--- We're also excited to have a new nephew tomorrow!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

For Mom! -I Owe Her a Blog!!!

So my mom made a great point! --I haven't written in a while, so I'm doing this for her! haha. The last few days were pretty eventful. Flashing back to Saturday, Joey and I went to the Temple and did initiatories. It was a great experience! The weather was beautiful, so it was great to walk there and back! After the temple, we had our date night, which consisted of riding bikes to Dairy Queen (yum!), Walmart, and then coming home and watching baseball (I know, since when do I watch baseball? Joey got me hooked!-- but my friend Matt Clark got me into the Red Sox first) Sunday was great. We learned a lot about forgiveness and how important it is to show love to our spouses and be very forgiving. We also learned about family history as we have been going to that class. In Relief Society, we talked about how much Joseph Smith expressed his love to his wife and kids in his letters to them while in jail. After lunch, we went to the library to do family history. We filled out a bunch of pedigree charts with Joe's ancestors. It was exciting and I'm even more excited to find out more about genealogy!!! We can't wait to get to do their work! Monday was great fun! In the morning while Joey was in class, I used "The Biggest Loser" workout dvd to do my workout. It was great, but tiring! I got pretty bored after that, so I decided to curl my hair with my straightening iron because I hadn't done it in a while. That was fun. Joe kept asking what I was getting all dolled up for. I was like I just want to do it for fun, and then I changed my answer to, "for you my darling, of course!" haha. Our ward had a super fun FHE at 6. We all went over to Brother Cook's house (one of the counselors in the bishopric) in Teton and he cooked us hot dogs and we ate delicious smores! (Joey and I just ate all the hershey bars-- we took like 5 of them haha!) Brother cook has this electric smile, so electric that whenever anyone sees him smile, you just want to smile! even if you're having a bad day! Maybe one day I could show ya'll. After we ate, everyone who wanted to go to the Haunted Mill went. It was awesome, and way longer than I thought!!! We waited in a line for a while, but once the adventures start it's like a half and hour! I got scared plenty because I am a wuss! It was super cold and windy outside too, so it was great when we finally got in that mill (or barn or whatever it was, haha) Yesterday was pretty good too. We had a delicious breakfast. Devotional was great. The speaker talked about how important friendship is and how our influences can change people's lives. He also said how important it is to reach out to those in need and lift up those who are down. It was great. I went and got Timmy and Diana my mother-in-law their birthday presents while Joe was in class. When I got home and had to go get a bunch of laundry from the dryers and fold those and put them away. At 6, Joe and I went to this "Devotional Forum". Joey got a call on my cell phone the other day saying that he was one of few selected to be a part of the devotional forum to discuss ways to improve devotional, etc. Well, he brought me along because they were going to be providing dinner, so we figured we should get some free dinner! It was just pizza though. After that, Joey had to go to a study group and I went grocery shopping because we were low on everything. It was great. I was pretty tired when it was finally time for bed. So ya! That's how the last few days have been! And I have a couple of pictures--one from FHE and one that joey took of me. haha!

Me? Glasses? Ya?

It's been a while since I've blogged! I can't really think of what to say, but we are doing great! Joey is doing really well in school, and I back to the health center today to get my neck checked again. I was afraid the lymph nodes were still swollen because I had a lot of neck pain Sunday night, but it turns out that my shoulders and neck have just had a lot of tension and the muscles are tight constantly... so that's good news! Also, in a couple of weeks I have to go back so they can get another blood cell count to make sure my iron has been doing well. It's been helping a lot! I've had more energy and haven't been feeling like I'm going to faint anymore. In other news, I got a few of the sweetest comments the other day! My right eye has been bugging me so I've been wearing my glasses for the last couple of days. Some people said that my glasses are really cute and that they look good on me. So I decided to wear them again today even though I hate wearing glasses and would much rather wear contacts. haha Well! I'm sitting here blogging when I should be making dinner for my hungry husband! Until next time!

Those Who Bring Sunshine to the Lives of Others Cannot Keep it from Themselves! -author of peterpan!

Yesterday was a pretty productive day! I did some laundry. At 2, Joe and I went to devotional. It was a great devotional. You could really feel the Spirit in the room. After devotional, I walked with Joe to his class and then went to the cashier's office to pay for my health center appointments. After that, I went home and folded laundry and put it away and what not. I went to the bank to deposit some checks and went over to "Western Watts" to see if I could apply. They had me do this quick application on the computer and they said to come to oriention today at 5. It's kind of like a training. They have you work right after the second training, so I pretty much have a job! It's not really one I look forward to, but atleast I'll be making us a little bit of money and having something to do. Plus, my friend from our ward said that we can carpool and what not because she is working there now too. After that, I ran over to Walgreens to pick up my perscription which I had to wait 25 minutes for. After that, I went and picked up Joe and we drove down to Walmart and Albertson's and picked up some groceries that we needed. While we were out we ate at Arctic Circle because Joe was starving and I didn't want to make him wait for me to cook him dinner haha. So, yes! It was a pretty productive day, and I watched The Biggest Loser too. Right now I am getting ready to go to the gym and then get ready to go to orientation. I hope it goes well!

Happy Birthday Benji!

I just wanted to dedicate this blog to my younger brother Benji! Today he is 18! It is so great! Him and I have had many good times together! There are loads of funny memories that we've made too! We used to sneak out of the house and go eat somewhere like McDonalds or sometimes we would go to Buffalo Wild Wings! He would always talk me into buying him food and he would promise to pay me back, but he wasn't able too and that really did not bother me. We used to also go on trips to walmart (sometimes just to look at stuff!) we would walk around the store and act like we were mentally challenged and I would yell at Benji and make a huge scene.... great times! Also, when we would go on long trips to Utah or something we would argue and fight a lot and then we would laugh about it later.... my bunny maggie helping me drive and everything! haha! Also, he would worry that if he went to sleep that I would fall asleep at the wheel, and he'd be like, "sooo tired, must sleep!" and I would be like then sleep Benji! and he would be like ,"but I must keep you awake!" and I'd just tell him not to worry about it, and he'd be like "okay" and go right to sleep! haha Also, the many times at school in the morning after seminary he'd yell, "Possy! Assemble!!!!!!!!!" hahahahaha. Great times. We also have had some great languages/lingos! Most of it is made by Benji and then it rubs off on me haha! Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENJI! You're a great brother and friend! I love you!

General Conference

I really enjoyed General Conference this weekend. I think it's one of the first times that I actually listened hard and really took everything that was said in. I want to share some of my favorite things that were said. First of all, I really enjoyed what President Utchdorf said both at Women's Conference and General Conference. At Women's Conference, he talked about how a lot of times women undervalue their great abilities. I'm definitely guilty of this and it really helped me realize that I should try not to do that. I also enjoyed when he talked about his greatest happiness being God's happiness and then asking himself what God's happiness was, which is His children. I loved his talk on Hope and how it is linked together with faith and charity. It was neat when he said, "In Winter, we find an invincible Summer." In Joseph B. Wirthlin's talk, I really liked when he said, "Try and laugh, it will make life more enjoyable!" It's so true. No matter how hard life may get, a laugh always helps me in some way. Jeffrey R. Holland reminded me that "Christ has promised to fight our battles." I know that if I do what I am supposed to, then He will take care of the rest! :) I also loved Elder Bednar's talk on prayer. It was grand. I like Hales talk about Christian Courage and how it can sometimes be mistaken as weakness--it is not! When Sister Dalton spoke I liked the saying, "The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare." That can be applied to almost anything! I liked William D. Oswald's talk on teaching. I want to be a teacher one day (even if I'm not, I'll be a mother) and I learned about this in one of my education classes --> 1. Show love to those you teach and call them by name, 2. Teach from the scriptures, 3. Encourage the ponderings of gospel truths. Well, that's most of the things I wanted to share. Sorry this is scatter-brained!

It's a great day to be alive!

Yesterday and today were pretty good days! I have been feeling much better! I don't know if it is the iron supplement of what! Yesterday I rode my bike down to walmart and picked up some more postcards and went next door to Albertsons and picked up some bananas, milk, and brown sugar. Once I put it all in Joey's backpack that he lent to me, I was like oh man I hope I can still ride this bike with the extra weight! It wasn't hard at all... until I turned onto the street that leads up to our apartment and found that the clouds were nasty and it was super gusty and the wind was going against me. Eventually it was too hard to ride against the wind so I had to walk my bik all the way back up the hill to home. After Joey got back from class, I read some of my "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" book while Joey submitted some homework online. I made dinner (hamburger for me, Spaghetti for Joey) while we were waiting for the baseball game to come on at 7:30. It was great and went until about 11:00. We didn't get to bed until about 1, so we slep in this morning until after 9:30, and then got up to have a delicious breakfast and watch General Conference. We had eggs, toast, and bacon! Yum! We really enjoyed both sessions, and in between I baked cookies... they turned out okay. lol. I cleaned the house while Joey went to Priesthood and I showered and got ready for date night. When he got home, we rode our bikes to Wingers (Delicious!) and then went over to Walmart and picked up a couple of things. The ride home was tiring and it was pretty chilli! We got home about 10:30 and we are exhausted! It was a pretty good day though! :)
